Latex - 6 tips for beginners
On the topic of latex, we previously wrote a trio of extensive articles where we explain everything related to this phenomenal material in detail. Let's summarize the entire "latex wisdom" into six key points, by which even a complete beginner will immediately know how to handle it. Latex clothing will then be a true delight for you and with minimal effort, it will last long as new.
Reading time 5 minutes - invaluable information!
1. Introduction
In the first part of the trilogy, titled Latex - History and Present, we previously introduced you to how this captivating material came into the world, why people are so fascinated by it, who started producing it, etc. Many people live under the false impression that it's a phenomenon of the last decade, but the truth is that even our grandparents had the opportunity to buy latex garments. However, it wasn't so easy for them. Firstly, they didn't have the internet, and even if they did, they would still be out of luck in socialist Czechoslovakia. In Germany, however, the first production appeared as early as the 1960s, when companies Kunzmann and Latexa were founded.
2. Decision to Purchase
If you have no experience with latex but like it and would like to try it, you might be thinking: "It's not that important." ... "You can live without it." ... "What if it's not comfortable?" ... "And where will I actually wear it?" ... The classic angel and devil figures in our heads complicate our life decisions. Once they start on this topic, latex usually wins, and sooner or later, you'll indulge yourself in that joy.
Then comes the question of where to best shop and what to choose. In brick-and-mortar stores in the Czech Republic, you'll find very little, and no one will give you much advice. You probably won't deal with custom-made products on your first try, so the internet clearly wins. In e-shops, you can't touch or try on the clothing, but you have the assurance that you can return it. So you can actually try it on much better than behind a curtain in a store. You have 14 days to do so, in the comfort of your home ;-)
Yes, yes, we understand that you need it right now or preferably yesterday, and the idea of waiting several days and then it's not right... Sacrifice a little moment and call or write to the e-shop before ordering. By the willingness on the other end, you'll know if someone truly understands you and wants to help or if it's just a hired salesperson with thoughts elsewhere.

3. First Dressing
You've shopped, and now it's time for the first dressing. This can sometimes unnecessarily discourage an inexperienced person. The surface of latex is usually dry and unprepared after unpacking, and putting it on is difficult to impossible because it sticks to the body and unpleasantly pulls on the skin. Some customers then return the garment and forever end their relationship with latex or want to exchange it for a size two sizes larger. You can put it on dry, but it will literally look like a bag.
Don't make the same mistakes! First, you need to get rid of the stickiness. Either dust the inside with powder or coat it with silicone oil. We call this the dry and wet method. We recommend the dry method for the first try so that you can return the clothing if it doesn't fit. Otherwise, we strongly recommend silicone oil!

4. Shine
To make it shine just like in the picture, you need only one thing. The same silicone oil that you used as a lubricant for dressing. Do you now understand why we strongly recommend the wet method for dressing? You only need one product for both the inside and outside. It also saves you a lot of work and time when washing and storing. Detailed info again in the article Care for Latex.
You can also use a silicone spray, but beware of its major disadvantage! The spray creates a silicone mist, which, when settled, leaves a greasy film on floors, furniture, windows, etc. Therefore, we do not recommend using it at home, in an apartment. The spray also dissipates much faster than liquid oil in a bottle, making it significantly more expensive!
5. Cleaning
There are special cleaners for washing latex, which supposedly disinfect and perfectly clean it. But they are usually just a ploy for your wallets. We'll leave out professional studios where one catsuit is worn by several customers a day. There, disinfection is appropriate. Here we address private clothing and advise those of you who are getting to know latex. Remember, for basic washing, warm water is sufficient. Water washes away sweat and small impurities but doesn't completely degrease the surface. This doesn't matter at all; in fact, it's good to polish it a bit before storing. If you spend a longer time in latex and it gets more sweaty or you somehow dirty it, the ideal agent for washing is ordinary dish soap, of which just a few drops are enough.
6. Storage
Latex is ideally stored treated with silicone oil. It's important that it isn't wet from water! After washing and polishing, hang the garment on a line or hanger and let it dry inside out and right side out! The water will evaporate, and the silicone will remain. Store the polished garment in a plastic bag or preferably in a plastic storage box. Be careful not to store polished latex with other common clothing, as it would get greasy from it.
Follow our advice. Even the first purchase and first dressing will then be a breeze!
