Care cream for shiny PVC - Collonil Lack polish (100 ml) neutral
How to care for lacquer clothing, footwear, and accessories?
Caring for lacquer or PVC clothing is not as demanding as with latex or leather. In case of dirt on the outer shiny side, simply wipe with a damp cloth and you're done. The inner lining, which is usually made of some synthetic fabric (polyamide, polyester, elastane), comes into contact with the skin, so you should keep it clean. If the garment is loose and you wear it for a short time, it is usually enough to hang it inside out on a hanger and let it air out. If it is tighter clothing that you wear all evening or use for a wild event, a deeper clean is advisable.
Patent leather clothing does not belong in the washing machine!
The washing machine would damage the top shiny layer, so it is important to wash patent leather very carefully. The ideal method is to soak it for a longer period in a basin with lukewarm water and let it soak naturally. Usually, water alone is sufficient, but you can add a little soap or fabric softener for fragrance. It is then necessary to rinse it thoroughly. Handle the patent leather carefully during washing and rinsing. Do not press, scrub, or wring! After removing it from the water, hang it on a hanger and let it dry.
Caring for the shiny layer
The shiny layer is made of 100% PU (polyurethane). By itself, it has quite a high durability, but without proper care, you voluntarily shorten its lifespan. Several factors contribute to its aging, causing it to lose suppleness and potentially crack. These include:
- natural aging over time,
- the effect of UV radiation from the sun, moisture, and sweat,
- mechanical wear during regular use, such as bending, stretching, and abrasion.
Therefore, it is good to use a care product like Lack polish, which keeps the shiny surface supple and resistant to cracking for a long time. We recommend using this product on newly purchased clothing and reapplying it from time to time. At least after each washing, which dries out the patent leather. This will significantly extend the lifespan and dazzling shine.
Caring for patent leather shoes
The same rules described above apply to the shiny layer of patent leather shoes. In case of dirt, simply wipe with a damp, soft cloth, dry, and then apply Lack polish. This way, you protect the shine against cracking. Do not wash the shoes! It is good to let the inside air out naturally and, if necessary, use a disinfectant spray for regular footwear.
